Seven Steps to Home Ownership
Step 1

Find a Realtor you can trust

 

Whether looking for new construction or an existing home, the first step in the home buying process is to find an experienced Realtor that you can trust and sign an agreement for buyer representation. This guarantees that your needs are met professionally and represented throughout the entire process of buying your home.
Step 2

Get Pre-Approved for a loan

 

Pre-approval is an important step before you begin looking for a home. It determines how much home you can really afford. Getting pre-approved requires that the lender verify your financial information, and it serves as a commitment to lend a specified amount based on that information. This gives you significant buying power with a seller who recognizes you will be approved for a loan. As your Realtor, I can assist you in locating a qualified loan officer that will work with you to make your dream home a reality.
Step 3

Looking for a home

 

Now we start looking at various homes. As your Realtor, I would set up a search in the MLS for homes that meet your needs and price range. I would make myself available to show you property when your "dream" home becomes available.
Step 4

The Purchase Agreement

 

Here's the BIG step...When we find that dream home, a competitive offer needs to be written and presented immediately. I have extensive experience in contract negotiations. I work hard to ensure you get your new home at a fair price and that the transaction is in your best interest.
Step 5

Inspection Time

 

When the seller accepts your offer, you are under contract to buy the home. If you have chosen to have an inspection of the entire home or just a specific area, I will help coordinate the process to make certain the property is "perfect" for you. Contract details are further negotiated as we head toward closing on the home!
Step 6

"Pending" Home Ownership

 

Once the home meets your inspection criteria, a "SOLD" sign is placed on your dream home and it is placed in "pending" on the MLS system. During this period prior to closing, I work closely with your loan officer and the seller's representative to ensure that details such as the appraisal and updating the title are handled in a timely manner. It is my goal that your home closes properly and on time!
Step 7

Welcome Home!

 

 

The final step in the process is the closing! Be prepared with picture identification, a 10 year address history, your checkbook, and any other information requested by the closer  when you arrive. At the end of this hour meeting, you will be handed the keys to your new home!
